Feeling like you’re not (fill in the blank) enough? It’s painful, isolating, and can feel like it’s swallowing you whole. It’s often referred to as ‘toxic shame,’ and it can come from a lot of different places. I work with humans who struggle with shame, whether from or in combination with trauma, anxiety, moral injury, depression, attachment wounding, or life transitions. If you are feeling stuck, having trouble moving forward, or struggling to even identify or feel worthy of what you need or want, I’m here to help you get to know and value yourself a bit more. With some gentle compassion and probably more than a few laughs (and some existential dread), we will work together to support you as you get more in tune with your self.
I strongly believe in the power of expression and action-oriented work in self-exploration, healing, and growth. Where possible (and clinically beneficial, of course), treatment is infused with play and humor which – when well-balanced – can be vital to the therapeutic process. My approach strives to be trauma-responsive, culturally humble, and seeks to acknowledge and welcome the inherent messy humanity in us all while working to decolonize the therapeutic space and reduce institutional and systemic harm wherever possible.
In addition to traditional talk therapies, I am trained in experiential creative arts therapies, as well as the neuro-experiential model of Brainspotting.
I work collaboratively with the expert in the room – that’s you – to establish and move toward your therapeutic goals. Whether you are seeking to reclaim your voice, find a true sense of belonging, or simply truly get to know yourself, I am here to help guide you through that process. Using what feels right for you – which may include talk therapy, expressive arts, behavioral therapies, psychoeducation, and/or embodied work to integrate mind/body processing and healing – we will work together to support you in your work.
As a Drama Therapist and Certified Brainspotting Therapist, attunement is a big piece of the work. Telehealth does not at all prevent attunement and is a vital bridge to maintaining accessibility in the mental health field. AND, the tactile nature of being in the therapeutic space together - especially when doing embodied work - can often have the capacity to accelerate therapeutic processes.
