My style is warm and encouraging, and emphasizes a trusting, safe relationship between us.
Sometimes therapy requires courage and challenges us, and together we can also be playful, creative, and greet the unknown with curiosity. There are many paths to choose from, but all involve expanding on your strengths, drawing from your lived experience to meet your goals, and learning new skills and techniques.
The primary values guiding my work include unconditional positive regard, compassion, flexibility, creativity, humility, and tenderness.
As a trauma-informed clinician, I encourage you to go at your own pace. Together, we will practice identifying and implementing your boundaries. I will be checking in frequently and inviting your feedback to ensure transparency, trust, and safety, especially during initial sessions. Together, we will proceed with presence, attunement and self-compassion, rather than pushing through overwhelm, discomfort and pain.
I use an eclectic style that draws from the below approaches, building a bridge between evidence-based modalities and contemporary research, and my deep conviction that you are the expert on yourself. The approaches I use in our work together will depend on what we discuss, but I primarily draw from the Interpersonal Process Approach, ACT, and Psychodynamic, Person-Centered models, seasoning the therapy with interventions from other domains as they appear relevant and useful to your life.
There is something really special about meeting in-person. By coming in to the office, I hope that you find solace and sanctuary in a calming, neutral environment, and also find relief in leaving behind what you release in the course of our work together. Meeting in person provides a wonderful container to hold our work, and gives us more information and flexibility in the therapy.
